Handwritten is Shawn Mendes’ first album and personally my favourite out of his four other albums. It’s hard to believe that it’s almost five years old! There are so many amazing songs on this album that will make you want to get up and dance. Although some of the more popular songs on there may have been overplayed by the radio throughout the years, there are still many good ones. My favourite out of this album is A Little Too Much because it shows that even if you’re going through a hard time, everything will be okay in the end. If you haven’t already, I recommend listening to this album. 4/5 @butterflyreads of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Shawn Mendes released his Handwritten album in 2015. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. There are 12 total tracks on the album, which range from soft slow songs like ‘Never Be Alone’ to some more upbeat like ‘Something Big’. Shawn is actually Canadian too! I remember picking up this album during a trip when I went to Toronto, which happens to be Shawn’s home town. I think many people would love this album; even my parents enjoy it as well as I do. Shawn is often compared to Justin Bieber because of his success at such a young age, like how Justin was. Though their singing styles to me are not similar at all. Shawn is very acoustic-like. He plays the guitar at his concerts but he has many more talents than just that. I recommend you pick up this album to listen to if you like soft, not-so-autotuned songs! 5/5 stars @Canija of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Handwritten is the debut studio album by Canadian singer Shawn Mendes. This album contains 12 songs and 4 singles which include popular songs such as “Stitches”, “Something Big”, and “Life of the Party”. The genre of this album belongs to pop, rock and blues. This album was reissued in a revisited edition on November 20, 2015 called “Handwritten Revisited” and it includes five live recordings tracks from the Greek Theatre + 4 brand new songs. The songs can be up-tempo or downtempo and each have its’ own unique tone. For example, “Stitches” is more of a catchy and up-tempo song, while “Life of the Party” is more of a melodious and down-tempo song (that’s just to name a few). My favourite songs in this album are “Stitches”, “Something Big”, ‘Life of the Party”, and “This Is What It Takes”. I recommend this song for people who want to relax while listening to music or generally want to listen to good music. @newtricksterx of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Having been released on April 14, 2015 "Handwritten" marks Canadian singer Shawn Mendes' first full length album. The pop rock album consists of twelve tracks and an additional ten tracks on the deluxe realise. This album had four released singles including; Life of the Party, Something Big, Stitches, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The songs that stood out to me were Never Be Alone and The Weight, for they're relaxed, emotional sound. As this nearing the start of Mendes' career, you can truly see how he's evolved with his sound and matured as an artist. I will admit the album could have been improved with more variety in it's sound but still is good non the less. 3.5 Stars @Ruby_Tuesday of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board
