A rather disjointed assortment of quite unrelated (and fairly standard) "nature" scenes (a doe giving birth, a fox with her kits, owls watching them both), strung together with the fading sounds of one scene overlapping the next to suggest they are happening in the same time and place (making for a seemingly very crowded forest at times). There's a nod to the passing seasons in another attempt to create some kind of continuity between the many disjointed clips. An occasional narration lets you know that perhaps thousands of years have passed since the last narration, and at one point a random woman's voice sings something equally random. More fairy tale than fact (with some downright silliness thrown in), there is the inescapable feeling there's something not quite right about all the "nature" scenes - even if you truly didn't know beforehand (as I didn't) that they were all staged. A Disney version of nature. I will admit, however, that I had no idea that some forests have been "pruned" into rows to make hunting easier. That picture alone will never leave me.
