Although this series has never had the best writing technique, I have enjoyed the story lines and the character interactions. This latest volume was a major disappointment. The mystery was basically only a sideline, and very limited at that, and there was very little character interactions and no character development. Basically, the only focus of the book was the Colorado wildfires. As the author lives in Colorado, I understand that the wildfires were a traumatic part of her life, but unfortunately, writing about them in her simplistic, almost juvenile writing style, showed clearly throughout the book (without having a true mystery to distract from that style) and made reading it almost an unbearable drudge. Please, even high school students learn that there are other creative ways to write conversations without ever sentence ending in "said_____"! This may well be the last of her books that I will read.
