Grace and Power

the Private World of the Kennedy White House

These books are really superfluous, as they don't extensively cover the inner workings and thoughts and accomplishments of the Kennedy Administration, in effect for so short a time: does her book cover JFK's creation and promotion of the Equalization Interest Tax? Or his negotiations with Sukarno of Indonesia, instead of sending in the CIA like the Eisenhower and Johnson Administrations? Does it mention his Executive Order #11110, which LBJ rescinded while he was in the air on Air Force One - - destined for Washington, D.C., immediately after the assassination of President Kennedy? Or LBJ's signing of NSAM 273, which completely flipped Kennedy's NSAM 163, which he had just recently signed on October 11, 1963? Best to read Andrew Cohen's wonderful book, Two Days in June, and also Donald Gibson's enormous achievement, Battling Wall Street: the Kennedy presidency.
