"Martha Wells's Hugo, Nebula, Alex, and Locus Award-winning, New York Times and USA Today bestselling series, The Murderbot Diaries, comes to a thrilling conclusion in Exit Strategy. Murderbot wasn't programmed to care. So, its decision to help the only human who ever showed it respect must be a system glitch, right? Having traveled the width of the galaxy to unearth details of its own murderous transgressions, as well as those of the GrayCris Corporation, Murderbot is heading home to help Dr. Mensah--its former owner (protector? friend?)--submit evidence that could prevent GrayCris from destroying more colonists in its never-ending quest for profit. But who's going to believe a SecUnit gone rogue? And what will become of it when it's caught?"--Provided by publisher.

From Editor/Chief Michael R. Brown of Ghettostone Publications Company
and Leader of The BEST SELLERS BOOK CLUB comes a review of author
Martha Wells -"Exit Strategy" part 4 in the "Murder Bot" series...!
"WE LOVE MURDER BOT"..!

Book #4 "Exit Strategy" is the conclusion of the Martha Wells series about a cyborg,
"Sec. Unit" hero, who is still part human, but mostly machine. He calls himself Murder
Bot after a horrible incident in which 21 humans died during a malfunction he can't
seem to remember. The final story ties up most loose ends of the series, and answers questions like does the bad corporations ever get caught! Or did our hero really kill 21 humans? Or what ever happened to the woman he seemed to "like" will they see each
other again? And will "Murder Bot" ever stop running from the law? We really enjoyed
this story! It was well written, short, and filled with actions sequences that took place in interplanetary locations. Martha Wells uses terrific descriptions that take the reader
away to distant places. Not over done itemized droning, but a weaving of descriptions
with storytelling a real artwork. We finally get why "Murder Bot" has been watching
all those TV shows that he's been downloading. And there is even a little cliff hanger
that leaves open the possibility of more "Murder Bot" stories to come...!
Highly recommended by the entire BEST SELLERS BOOK CLUB for book lovers of all ages!

The final book in this series. The title of *Exit Strategy* has multiple meanings. Murderbot has discovered that GrayCris people have kidnapped its old friend Dr. Mensah (from Volume 1). It cannot rescue Mensah without an exit strategy, of course. But it also lacks trust that Mensah and other friendly humans will follow through on their offers to give it a place in their home culture; and so after a potentially successful rescue, it will need an exit strategy from the possibility of relationship connections. And of course this is the final book of the four, so *the author* needs an exit strategy.

To my mind the series improves with each book, because the focus is on the growing self-awareness of Murderbot. Its battle for independence is as intellectually exciting as is the emotional excitement of its many physical battles against the employees and robots of GrayCris.

I've been burning through the audiobooks of this series while commuting between work and home.

I'm so pissed that the audiobook for the fourth in this series is not yet out. I want that so badly.

This is really well written and fun, with excellent character development.

Wells' phenomenal Murderbot Diaries novella series ends with a bang in this thrilling fourth sci-fi adventure featuring the marvelously cynical, sarcastic, and socially anxious cyborg. When Murderbot discovers that its former employer (and possible friend?), Dr. Mensah, is being held by a corporation bent on covering up its past and future misdeeds, it must team up with members of its old crew to rescue her and stop the GrayCris once and for all.

A fitting "end" to the series. Our favorite rogue SecUnit has managed to finally catch up with Dr. Mensah and her crew bringing valuable information against GrayCris. Along the way more mayhem and murder follow, most of it not our titular hero's making. :)

This series brings up many pertinent points on "being human" and not feeling as if you belong. I highly recommend this series, even for those who think they hate "science fiction" as a story telling vehicle.

The ending was open-ended leaving this reviewer hoping for more.

pg 35 (for one thing, the shows and serials were trying to communicate accurately with the viewer. As far as I could tell, real humans usually didn't know what the hell they were doing.)
pg 154 "I don't want to be human"
Dr Mensah said, "That's not an attitude a lot of humans are going to understand We tend to think that because a bot or a construct looks human, its ultimate goal would be to be human."
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
