The fight to survive has torn them apart, turned them against each other, and taken the lives of their closest friends. Last season, a new, even more dangerous threat arose: the A.I. that ended the world was building an army dedicated to controlling all sentient life on Earth. No longer a battle between warring factions; it was a fight for humanity itself. The 100 face their darkest chapter yet.

There's a lot to like in season five, but bottom line, The 100 has gotten into a rut. I get that the whole premise is about difficult choices, about survival vs. morality, about tribal identity vs. others. But it's been five seasons. One of the telling scenes in this season is when a character asks "Tell me about the apocalypse" and the response is "Which one?" This season the writers had several main characters make incredibly bad decisions, presumably just to have conflict. The season ended in a way that allows the writers in season six to develop the plot in a new direction, highlighting actual character growth instead of simply making the same mistakes over and over. I hope the show takes advantage of the opportunity.
