I, too, was lead to believe this was going to be an actual documentary by the packaging. It's not, and as things progress the acting and the plot twists get pretty bad. As a mystery it was okay, I guess, but I didn't like the whole "pretend documentary" conceit.

I kept wondering why the film maker gave himself so much screen time. A good part of the way through this documentary, I realized that he and the other characters were actors... which made me feel stupid. If it was a true documentary it would have been fascinating, but in the end, it's a morality message against fracking and how murdering frackers' children is what you get when you're so evil.

So I rented this thinking it was a documentary, but it wasn't... just a "mockumentary" It was well done, in fact, it's done so much like a true crime documentary that I didn't realize until about halfway through that it was fake.... the legal facts they talk about are real though, and that is very disturbing! I would recommend, but just know that it's a fiction movie and not a documentary!
