South Africa’s history - a black man’s country under white man’s law.

Here's a book I had long put off reading because I figured it had an axe to grind on the apartheid issue. I couldn't have been more wrong. This lyrical, beautifully told story describes the tremendous problems of apartheid without demonizing either side--in fact, much of the tragedy is that nearly everyone has good intentions, but simply can't decide on the best course of action. This tale of a society in turmoil, at threat of its collapse, is pertinent today. Reader Michael York is terrific, too!
