After ten years of marriage, Jeff and Nealy Lang have an idyllic suburban home, and a relationship on the skids. But, when a family of hungry raccoons ransacks their perfectly manicured backyard, Jeff becomes obsessed with eradicating the pests by any means necessary. Soon the relentless rodents aren't merely uprooting the lawn, but also overturning the Langs' entire bourgeois existence, as the man-versus-beast battle leads into an absurd mess of infidelity,

Ultimate tale of unintended consequences. Laura Linney steals it!

Ignore the cover, because it is totally off with what each character is except for the husband-wife thing. Ray Liotta, who has about 3 minutes of screen time shouldn't even be on the cover of this thing. But otherwise an interesting movie. As always, Laura Linney steals the show.

I really don't like Tobey Maguire but there is some good acting in this movie. Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, & Ray Liotta really bring it.

I guess it could have been worse. I did learn there is only one way to kill a raccoon though

Some funny moments as a young doctor's life took a weird and deadly turn after he undertook a couple of home improvement jobs. Takeaways, don't lay down new sods with fat worms underneath in raccoon country, never have an affair with an unstable neighbor and always get a city permit before remodeling.

I've never said this about a film before but "The Details" is a deeply misogynistic film. The main female characters are all harpies, loons, and/or evil seductresses and Jeffrey's wife is an accomplice after-the-fact to murder. This is a hateful, poisonous film.

Average dark dramedy. Talented cast, but not really well utilized. Story didn't really keep my interest. Pretty much a collection of morally devoid folks doing bad things to one another.

This is a really different dark comedy. It was a bit slow at times though. There was an alternate beginning and ending on the DVD. The alternate beginning would have never worked because it could only be used with the alternate ending and would give everything away. I did like the the alternate ending that I thought would work if you weren't expecting it.

Ha! I guess I'm nuts because I saw this movie differently than all the other commenters. I found the movie offbeat just as they did, however, I also found it to be disturbing and serious on many levels. I love a good comedy, have you seen "This is the end"?, now that's a comedy! This had some comic relief but not to the extent most ppl seem to think. That's simply my opinion tho. Strangely, it is labeled as a comedy. I just didn't see it that way. I know that I didn't laugh muh during the showing. If anything, it's a comedy/drama. There are a lot of very serious subjects in this movie. I would at least recommend watching it once and decide for yourself.

An interesting, light hearted and sometimes funny film.
