Professor Quincy Adams Wagstaff has just been installed as the new president of Huxley College. His cavalier attitude toward education is not reserved for his son Frank, who is seeing the college widow, Connie Bailey. Frank influences Wagstaff to recruit two football players who hang out in a speakeasy, in order to beat rival school Darwin. Unfortunately, Wagstaff mistakenly hires the misfits Baravelli and Pinky. Finding out that Darwin has beaten him to the "real" players, Wagstaff enlists Baravelli and Pinky to kidnap them, which leads to an anarchic football finale.

This was the first Marx Bros movie I have ever seen, I was shocked with how often I found myself laughing. Groucho is clearly the father of modern day comedy, including satire. I have never liked mime comedy, but Harpo does it so skillfully and to much hilarity that I now have a much higher respect for the style.

Naturally we're talking about a movie that is over 80 years old, and the film industry was still in its infancy. Horse Feathers is a product of its period. But I loved it, which surprised me. It was delightful and is a great introduction to the comedy of the Marx Bros.

I tried to like this, but unless you are a devoted Marx Brothers fan, this is VERY hard to enjoy.
Sadly, (for me) the comedy has not aged well and it was so painful to watch. Fans of the Marx Brothers will enjoy it though.
