This is a rather ham handed account of the police investigation into the Manson murders- made in the 1970's- and yet because it is based on prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's book the account of the police investigation and trial is pretty interesting if you're curious about the case. Be warned that the movie is about 3 hours long.

A true crime tale that's just as gruesome now as it was then. I think Bugliosi gives himself too much credit and it clearly shows how the bungling of the police almost put Manson back on the street.
