Ian Lafferty can not seem to catch a break. He's taunted by his cocksure older brother Rex, shown up in the romance department by his 14-year-old younger brother and humiliated by his job at a mall donut shop. But Ian's biggest problem is that he's about to start college as a virgin. Now, Ian decides to set out on a cross country drive with his best friends Lance and Felicia in order to lose his virginity to a red-hot babe he met on the Internet. Getting nowhere with the girl of his dreams, Ian resorts to Internet dating. He soon hooks up with Ms. Tasty, a flaming hot blonde who can't wait to get busy. He has to drive 500 miles from Chicago to Knoxville to consummate the deal.

High School senior Ian has more than a few problems. First of all he’s the only person in his class who hasn’t been laid. On top of that he is constantly terrorized by his testosterone-drenched older brother; romantically upstaged by his 14-year old younger brother; and ignored by Felicia, the object of his desire, who wants to be “just friends” while she actively pursues his suave and sophisticated best friend, Lance. So what’s a poor boy to do? Search for sex on the internet of course, where he quickly develops a steamy cyber-relationship with blonde bombshell “Tasty” who lives several states away. “Borrowing” his brother’s prized 1969 GTO Ian sets out on a road trip, with Lance and Felicia in tow, to meet Tasty and finally lose his virginity. Along the way they have a run-in with a damaged cashier and her pathological boyfriend, go wild with a mob of Amish party animals, engage in some impromptu watersports with an angry hitchhiker, and get arrested for damaging an endangered species. But when Ian finally meets up with his dream date everything that could possibly go wrong does. And then some. Starting off with an intentionally lame intro by director Sean Anders and writer John Morris who promise a bonanza of gratuitous flesh, the film rarely rises above juvenile gags and prurient humour; but it does so with such gleeful abandon that it won me over despite my better judgement. With its witty script, shameless performances and scenes involving dangling testicles, pointless nudity, and a talking doughnut with a could anyone not love this movie?

Skip It – Sex Drive (2008) 129 min. This review is based on the unrated version which includes an additional 10 minutes not shown in theatres. This is another of the many “teen-sex” movies thats come out in recent years. Sean Anders, the director, pulls all the stops in this one in demonstrating how low American cinema could get. The film is riddled with sexual innuendos, nudity, vulgarities, and just plain bad taste. Out of this mess, the only idea of interest is that we live in a society where digital cameras are the norm and the likelihood of you appearing on YouTube in an embarrassing act is too likely. What bothers me the most about “films” such as these is that they radically distort the intimacy of sexuality and the more these films are exposed [pardon the pun] to our teens, the more they’ll have a distorted and threatening view of what sexuality is all about. I’m not a big proponent of censorship but films such as these [in my humble opinion] have no business in a public library.
