This movie was clunky back when it was released in the 70's- but it did have some intriguing dystopian ideas in it that still make it interesting to watch ( these were meant as warnings ( you know to make you think? ) not some sort of ' grand solution '- do people not understand the idea of a story anymore? ). I still enjoy the soundtrack the most out of everything in the film.

OK for its time, but dated now (as most 60's & 70's movies are). A decent story that has a similar theme in other SciFi movies, but still good enough to be interesting. Special effects are primitive compared to today's versions and it kind of detracts from the film.

I did not like this movie. It could have been better, because it had some interesting points of view. But it never really got anywhere, as far as I'm concerned, and was super cheezy. Also very long and drawn out. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time watching it.

This DVD movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. Very predictable but still entertaining.

This is not just a tale; this is a symbolic depiction of the planned future. If you listened to the talk radio programs (which are "fictitious" or freak, as they want you to think), in 2009 they said that the present civilization is imperfect and will collapse. They said that a New Creation is comiing, which they called "post-modern," "post-industrial" and "post-human." That new society will eliminate the personal freedom of choice, which is leading (bec. of individual selfishness) toward catastrophy. It will be totally planned and controlled, in dome cities separated from Nature. The present giant cities are not sustainable and will be abandoned, as they show us in the "I am legend" movie. The public is just not thinking about the future - they are just being selfish in the present and will end up in the ditch by so doing. In this movie you can see the rusted remains of the present "modern" cities, and that's the real plan for the future. The crowd was never thinking, is not thinkiing, and this and their selfish behavior is the cause of most of the troubles of the past and the future to come.

An interesting tale about a society in the future where you are forced into the Carrousel, a theatrical occurance which gives you the opportunity to renew (become older) or become a Runner to be chased by Sandmen and die at the age of 30 years old. This film follows the actions of a Sandman who is forced to become a Runner and discover the truth about the society in which he lives.

Cutting edge sci-fi at its time. There were grand "solutions" to healthcare, eternal youth, cloning, over population, love shop ... and even renewable energy (see quote).

This film was fairly innovative for 1976, having been the first to use laser holography. That deserves credit, but unfortunately some of the other effects (dangling people with goalie masks and sparklers on "Last Day"; "Box", the clunky aluminum foil robot man with dryer vent-hose arms; the obviously noticeable fabricated model dome city with miniature railway cars; etc.) weren't so technologically advanced... The post-apocalyptic story is very imaginative, hopeful, uplifting. A hedonistic utopia controlled by a master computer. Nonconformists vs. lemmings naïvely willing to "renew" (die) at age 30. The dialogue is kinda cheezy, and there's no question it's the 70's - bra-less women with lots of eye shadow, and dudes with mullets, afros, and long sideburns. The musical score inside the city was a futuristic (circa 2274) sounding Moog synthesizer, and a full orchestra 'outside'. All tolled, the movie has a certain charm about it, and a deserving place in cinematic history.

Logan's Run was one of my favorite movies growing up back in the 80s. The effects are a little dated today, but movies are about characters not effects, and Logan's Run has many distinctive characters. I think I memorized all of the dialogue from watching it so many times. The soundtrack deserves special mention as Jerry Goldsmith's score created a unique atmosphere for the movie. It's interesting how many movies have been heavily influenced by Logan's Run, like The Island and Repo Men.

The movie, although now dated, is still fantastic!
