A faithful adaptation of the novel. Better than the Keira Knightley film.

I enjoy the feeling I get when I view this romantic and fairy tale like yet, authentic and wonderfully made movie of (British) Men & Women , who are Rich or Poor. I watch this very well made DVD, several times a year, every year for a long time now. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle are excellent. I enjoy the whole cast. I like waiting on this movie from the Library. Thank you CPL.

Amazing movie! Really long, but totally worth it. Don't waste your time with the Pride and Prejudice with Knightly. Doesn't give it justice. The only criticism I would have would be that their chests are revealed. I get that that is the time period that that happens, but really, its showy. But otherwise- Super good.

One of my favourite BBC series while living in London.

Colin Firth is the best Mr. Darcy hands down.

One of my all time favorite movies. It's long, but oh so enjoyable! This is the movie that has made Colin Firth the drool-worthiness that he is. Great production by Andrew Davies who has written many period pieces as well as the British version of House of Cards.

Always a classic, perfect for those grey days in.

I vote two thumbs up for this fabulous adaptation of Jane Austen. It reproduces Austen's 19th century setting perfectly and can be watched over and over. The recent Keira Knightly version takes far too many "Hollywood" liberties and has characters acting completely contrary to the social norms of the time, there is no way it could be considered authentic and it made me squirm half the time.

This is by far the best film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Sceenwriter Andrew Davies wisely left most of the dialog to Austen.

One of my favorite BBC miniseries period dramas (next to "Bleak House"). The locations, the lighting/photography, the score... Firth and Ehle were wonderful. Beautifully put together top to bottom. FIVE STARS.

I was really excited to watch this as I've heard good reviews and I love the book. But I found it incredibly boring and I really could not get into it. I didn't even finish watching it. Maybe I love the most recent version too much. The only character I found fit the role was Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. Everyone else was over the top and corny.

Mrs. Gardiner (to Elizabeth Bennet, after the coach finally approaches a glimpse of Darcy's breathtaking mansion): "I think one would be willing to put up with a good deal to be Mistress of Pemberley..."

You have delighted us long enough. Give the other young ladies time to exhibit.

- Mr Wickham, that half the town was mad in love with....A very demon from hell sent to ruin us!
- I have heard he's run up debts with every reputable tradesman in the town.
-Oh, sister!
- I have heard tales of gaming debts!
- Oh, sister!
- Of drunken routs, in which more things were broken than heads and furniture, sister!
- Oh, sister, stop!
- Debauches, intrigues, seductions! They say there's hardly a tradesman in the town whose daughters were not meddled with!
