Excellent book about the birth and rise of the modern conservative movement. It forms a kind of trilogy with Perlstein's other, equally excellent, books: "Nixonland" and "The Invisible Bridge." Unlike many historians, Perlstein's writes vividly with wit, sharpness, and fierce intelligence.
