In the chaos following WWII, some of the greatest spoils of Germany's resources were the Third Reich's scientific minds. The U.S. government secretly decided that the value of these former Nazis' knowledge outweighed their crimes and began a covert operation code-named Paperclip to allow them to work in the U.S. without the public's full knowledge.

While Jacobsen's research is pretty thorough, she presents incorrect information on a couple of key events and players. However, this book is a feather in my history-reading cap...MKDELTA, MKULTRA, Project Bluebird and Artichoke...it's all fascinating if you're interested in US history and the nefarious activities of the alphabet agencies. WWII history buffs will love this, too.

An exceptional overview of a very dark topic. It is obvious from the moment you begin to read (or listen to) the book that Annie Jacobsen spent countless hours researching material for this work. She has opened my eyes on the subject and she has made it very clear that many of those involved in Operation Paperclip lied, misled and deceived to ensure that Nazi scientists worked on behalf of the US, Great Briton and Russia. The main focus of the book is on the US and their employment of Nazi scientists to further their military, medical and space research and development. The blatant disregard for past war crimes only serves to confirm that integrity and basic moral ethics had no place when it came to furthering US national interests. I highly recommend this book.
