Writing is subtle, but the stories get to you. Each story or a character comes with an interesting twist or surprise. I enjoyed the Nigerian setting more, however, the two setting (Nigerian and USA) completed the cycle of both, Nigerian woman's, and every woman's search for self identity - with different set of challenges in each place. Some of the themes are loss, abandonment, self discovery, and finding one's voice.
