It was stolen from a New Orleans grave -- the centuries-old bust of an evil man, a demonic man. It's an object desired by collectors -- and by those with wickedness in their hearts. One day, its' current owner shows up at the antique shop on Royal Street that Danni Cafferty inherited from her father. But before Danni can buy the statue, it disappears, the owner is found dead ... and Danni discovers that she's inherited much more than she realized. Michael Quinn, former cop and now private investigator, believes that doing the right thing is a way of life. And the right thing to do is find and destroy this object weighted with malevolent powers.

First time reader of this apparently popular author. She's very prolific which might explain why it came across as so formulaic. Decidedly unscary as occult/paranormal goes and the romance part seemed thrown in just to tick yet another box. OK for beach/cottage I guess. Just not my thing.

I keep trying to get to the end, rather a slow read, not as good as others that she has written
