This particular Mo Willems book is defintely a dark horse! The opening illustration with the fox zeroing in on the goose paints a perfect picture of what is exactly on his mind. Dinner! Willems brilliantly incorporates the use of silent film illustrations to eerily bring to life the interaction between the fox and goose which gives it an old-timey feel. That alone is enough to make anyone give this book a try. Not to mention the little chicks in between dialogue make the storyline even more intense!

An underrated and less well know Willems, if that's possible.
This one reminds me of Nannette's Baguette.

This is a funny book!

Mo Willems takes the art of silent films and applies it to picture books. A dapper fox has spied a beautiful goose walking the city streets. Each image is devoid of text, we only see what they are saying on black pages in between the action.

But this is a good idea! Another classic by Mo Willems - simple but cleaver, cute and fun! Let's read it again.

My 5 year od granddaughter absolutely loved it! She begged me to keep re-reading it, which we did 8 times before returning it to the library. The book was a good way for us to discuss "stranger danger" without leaving the child upset and scared when done.
