It was a pretty good book, but the author was very opinionated in some areas. Such as electric fences, they ARE fine, and work well, it is not abuse. And no-kill animal shelters are a vey good thing. I don't see the problem with saving lives. That's what an animal shelter is for, right? All the other animal shelters kill the animal merely because they don't have room, only for the next animal to face the same fate, it makes no sense!!!

Heart-warming, with a true sign of love from the author. I heard the author ROB LAIDAW has 5 dogs- and he wrote this book after 1 of them died. Great!

Dog lovers will surely enjoy this children's book, I would say grades 8-12. It discusses different kinds of shelters, including no-kill, as well as profiling many cases of how kids have helped the canines amongst us. It ends with a terrific Dog Lover's Pledge.
