A latest collection by the U.S. Poet Laureate (1990) and Pulitzer Prize-winning author is comprised of a series of witty and poignant prose-style pieces (sometimes appearing as pure prose, sometimes as impure poetry) that explore the receding vista of life while posing eloquent, riddle-like conundrums about the human condition.

Not my favorite Strand by a long shot. I do love that he is always trying new formats and there's a playfulness in the language as well as in the content. But, some are successful while others are not for me in this collection.

This new set of poems by Mark Strand is a bit dark, but short. The way they were written were new to me, but very good. This, in other words, is a good read.
