A great book for any Godfather fan. This book covers about 2 years in Sonny's life, from age 17-19. You see how he comes into the family business and you get glimpses of the relationship with the other crhildren (Friedo, Michael, even Connie).
Very interestingly is the background story of how Tom Hagen comes into the family and a strong backstory on Luca Brasi.
Reading this made me want to re-watch the original Godfather as most of those characters are referenced (even Lucy Mancini, Connie's bridesmaid and the mother of Sonny's illegitimate son in film III)

I throughly enjoyed this book. You learn how Sonny becomes involved in the family business even though his father does everything to discourage it and you also learn how Luca Brasi became the feared figure he was in the Godfather.
