I think whoever wrote the jacket blurb oversold this just a tad. A little heavy on the religious history—well, duh, it’s about a pope—but there was enough in it to interest even non-Catholics like myself. I found it particularly entertaining that Sweeney brings up the possibility of Pope Benedict’s retirement and then goes on to posit that he doesn’t think it will ever take place.
