I've read a few others in the "Elm Creek Quilts" series but enjoyed this one the most. This novel re-newed the spirit of "Aloha" for me. You learn a bit of history of the Hawaiian Islands and Queen Liliuokalani's Crazy quilt that she sewed while under a forced imprisonment in her own palace.

Great book, and you don't have to be a quilter to enjoy it! I really enjoyed learning a little about the history of Hawaii. Which, was a bonus to the already well written pages of the book. Mahalo!

I have enjoyed this series quite a bit. Again, the author did a great job in depicting Hawaiian history and I was fascinated by the development of quilting in Hawaii. I would have given this book a 3.5 if possible. The story is a bit melodramatic, especially with the heavy-handed behavior of the ex-husband and a little bit in her relationship toward her friend, esp. in the past.
Unfortunately, the story of having to start over after so many years of marriage is not an exaggeration, and the support that "Bonnie" gets is heart-warming.

Great read and learned about
making quilts, which I will not be
doing. Looking forward to the
next book about the Aloha Quilter
also the continuation of Bonnie and
Hinano's story.

I'm a quilter, and have lived in Hawaii - first time reader of Chiaverini's books. A quick read, with requisite moments describing the lead characters quilting, relatively engaging story. What I appreciated was the very accurate portrayal of Hawaii and the local culture and history.
