Mo Willems' books are usually enjoyable for myself and ones that I LOVE to share with my young friends. This one I will NOT share because the little pig friend needs a strong talking to about her lack of gratefulness. Admittedly, gratefulness doesn't seem to come "naturally" to us; thus--we as adults must help our children and the next generation to appreciate what we do have and look for the positive in as many situations as possible. This book simply makes fun (subtly) of the pig's complaining.

I want to add a creepy man that only comes out when it rains to harass the little children. You would still need to address that it is actually fun to play in the rain and what happens when you go back inside.

My four-year-old loves just flipping through the pictures again and again as the story is pretty animated and funny. She has also gone through the effort of trying to read the words for herself, asking for minimal reading from me - definitely something I'm looking for as she wraps up pre-K and gets ready for Kindergarten. I also like the message of flexibility - learning how to make lemonade when presented with lemons.

This book is a really good to read when teaching children to read. I highly recommend that Pre-K should have this book as a starter to help with social and mental relationship involvement.
The big text and picture will make reading fun and hopefully and easy read.

This is an awesome read for children learning to read. I highly recommend this book for parents. Parents can utilize this book as a starter to get their children ready for literacy in Pre-K, with the big text and wonderful illustrations students will enjoy learning to read with this piece of literature.

I recommend this book to children that are learning to read because the book has large, easy words. The way the book is written it makes it easy to understand, especially for kids that the book is written for. I think it is a great friendship story and it also teaches a little bit on the weather changes as well. The characters Gerald and Piggy set a great example of what friendship should be like and the characters and story line really connect with numerous children, who want to read it over and over again. This book is now my nephew's favorite.

I highly recommend "Are You Ready to Play Outside?" for preschool age children. Willems discusses friendship which children in this age group are just beginning to understand the concept of.The text in this book is simple, large and easy to understand. The book illustrates friendship and emotions such as happy and sad witout being overwhelming in colors. The book also demonstrates the beauty in weather changes. The author Mo Willems shows that you can have fun with a friend rain or shine!

I recommend this book for beginner readers. The size of the text and illustrations are large and understandable. It shares a mixture of emotions (sad, happy and disappointment) in the story. There are several action verbs that can be learned from reading this book (running, jumping, and skipping). A child can place simple words with simple pictures after reading this book. I believe children can benefit from the moral of the story and have a different outlook on situations that may happen from day to day by turning something negative into a positive. The author uses animals to explore the concept of friendship. Gerald, the elephant, is a great friend to the pig.
