Percy Jackson is a young boy who has a unique feature of getting in trouble no matter where he goes, this is what gets him kicked out of school. He finds out that he is special and different from most. He is sent to camp and meets some people but in the end, does he know who is his friend and who is not. This is a great book and one of my favourites it is very entertaining and it starts you off on a path towards a very interesting story that you just can't put down. I would recommend reading this book for anyone and everyone.

The lighting thief is a good first book to introduce you to an amazing series. Percy Jackson is a troublesome teen with dyslexia and adhd who is struggling in school. When reading the book you slowly begin to learn more about the world Percy Jackson is living in while he goes on a quest that helps him discover more about himself and his father. The lightning thief has a lot of humorous quotes involving Greek mythology and the characters in the book. I would recommend this book to everyone, but especially to kids who like action, fantasy and Greek mythology. I think that the lightning thief is a great introduction to the world of Percy Jackson and really sets up the theme for the next books. 5/5 stars

This is the first book in the Percy Jackson Series and it really sets a great tone for all the next books. It is interesting, comedic and easy to read. If you are a fan of greek mythology but don't want to read something heavy, this is the book for you. All the characters are very unique and interesting and the plot is so unpredictable it really makes the readers want more. Once you read the first book you keep on wanting more. I would definitely give this book a 5/5.

The Lightning Thief is the first novel of an amazing series. It is action-packed, and the main character and narrator, Percy Jackson, gives a very funny and interesting take on Greek Mythology. I would recommend this book to ages 10+, and if you enjoy this book you should definitely continue to read Rick Riordan’s entire demigod collection, starting with the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

The book starts with a blast, it was a fast, exciting and creepy. After reading half the book it all went downhill from there. Once the mystery around the house was explored which was somewhat early. It became a very boring and almost absurd story, which I was not expecting at all. thought that it was different from other books that showed photos that were scattered throughout the book, I thought that concept was very interesting. It's also really well written with great creativity, but it lacked the same passed it had throughout the book. I would give this novel a rating of 2 stars. Only recommend to people who like fantasy.

The Lightning Thief is the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. It is a true staple for anyone who loves Greek mythology and fantasy. In the beginning of the book, we see that Percy’s biggest problem is getting kicked out of his school. This later becomes extraneous when he figures out he is related to the Greek mythological gods. And the worst part? Percy is accused of stealing Zeus’s master lightning bolt. New to Camp Half-blood and the demi-god life, he must find the master bolt and return it to Mount Olympus while risking the outburst of a world war. Furthermore, solving the riddle of the camp Oracle. This book is an amazing read with lots of action and adventure. I loved the writing style and perspective in this series. The characters are also incredibly real and well-written. This is truly the perfect book for anyone who wants to get lost in a world of mythology and adventure. 5/5 stars, Nevaeh, 13, SAPL Read It & Review Contributor

Percy Jackson is a relatively average boy at first until he learns that he is actually the son of the Greek God Poseidon. When he arrives at a camp for children of deities called Camp Half-Blood, he is accused of stealing Zeus’ lightning staff and Hade’s Helf of Darkness, to which he must prove his innocence by trying to prevent an all-out war between Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon. This classic novel regarding tales and fantasy should appeal to readers who are interested in Greek mythology.

Published in June 2005 and written by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is infinitely better than its movie. I’ve been meaning to read it for a while now, but finally got to it after a bunch of friends demanded me to. After reading it, the book did not disappoint. It uses enough Greek mythology to give readers an idea of the purpose behind the plot, but also create enough room for new concepts. Though a bold claim, Percy Jackson could have been the successor to Harry Potter if not for the movie adaptations. The Lightning Thief is about Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who is always trouble. To be safe from danger and monsters, he travels to Camp Half-Blood, a sacred area where demigods can live peacefully. Along the way, however, he loses his mother to Hades, god of the underworld. Once there, Percy discovers he is the son of Poseidon, both a good and bad thing. He hones his god-like abilities to retrieve Zeus’ lightning bolt and rescue his mother, alongside Annabeth and Grover. My favourite aspect of this book, other than modernized Greek mythology, are the characters. For example, Percy Jackson is one of the most likeable and relatable protagonists I have read in a while. Combined with his sarcastic demeanour and impulsive actions, he just wants to be a good kid. Not only does he have ADHD and dyslexia, but so does all of the other half-bloods. The other protagonists and side-characters are just as interesting and relatable. Reading this book was amazing and it wasn't a mistake. To anyone who enjoys the prospect of an action-packed adventure novel with a hint of Greek myths: you'll probably like this too.

My bro said it was awesome and so I picked it up... but then it turned out to be traaash. So you read Harry Potter and finished the series. Everyone reccomends this book... but when you finshed every good read this can't compare. Yeah-- and the events happened too fast. Also, Krishnastar, I know it is your favorite series. But everyone has a diffrent opinion! I think this is just a way to get kids into greek mythology-- don't let them fool you! It's just with heroes and swords to make it not seem boring... but truthfully, it's just to get kids reading. Yeah, it's not really applicable for older readers.

I saw a lot out there in the world, Percy. Didn’t you feel it—the darkness gathering, the monsters growing stronger? Didn’t you realize how useless it all is? All the heroics—being pawns of the gods. They should’ve been overthrown thousands of years ago, but they’ve hung on, thanks to us half-bloods.

Middle school student Percy Jackson fears getting expelled (AGAIN) when he destroys one of his teachers after she transforms into a Fury and tries to murder him. However, his troubles are only beginning. His best friend Grover reveals himself to be a satyr and tells Percy he is in mortal danger. Percy's mother, Sally, rushes Percy and Grover to the mysterious Camp Half-Blood but is attacked by a minotaur and disappears in a golden light. Percy kills the minotaur, but fears that his mother is dead. At Camp Half-Blood, Percy discovers that his favorite teacher is actually Chiron, the centaur who trained many Ancient Greek heroes. Percy and the other campers are all half-bloods- the children of a greek god or goddess and a mortal parent. After Percy is claimed by his father Poseidon, he sets out on a quest with Grover and Annabeth, a daughter of Athena, to locate Zeus's missing master bolt before Zeus and Poseidon (whom Zeus believes is the thief) go to war. Together they face off against Medusa, Echidna, the Furies, and even Ares, the god of war himself. After a visit with Hades helps Percy realize he's been set up by Ares, he finds the master bolt and must return it to Zeus before the Summer Solstice. If he's successful, not only will he prevent a war among the gods, but he may also save his mother, who is being held captive in the underworld. This is the first in a 5 book series about Percy and his friends.
