A very flat and uninspiring account of what is known about Irish history up until the time of the Norman conquest. The brief interview with historian Michael Wood, author of many BBC history series, in episode three reminds us that history can be interesting when told from the perspective of the participants and the impact on their lives.

In Search of Ancient Ireland --- DVD by --- PBS Video.

Truly a narrative of epic proportions, reaching all the way back to Stone Age Ireland and going forward until the invasions of the Northmen. Narrated by a succession of Historians and Archaeologists and featuring, of course, the ruins, the tombs, and above all else, the superb Irish countryside.

Informative. Beautifully filmed.
