Anna Corbett, a deaf widow, is coping with the recent death of her husband. She is living like a hermit on a cattle ranch in East Texas with her 6-year-old son and father-in-law when she unwittingly becomes the center of a revenge plot engineered by escaped convict Carl Herbold. She counts on her hired hand Jack Sawyer to help her, but he has secrets of his own. Can Anna trust this man or will his demons doom them all?

Another great book by Sandra Brown. Originally written in 1999 and reissued several times and still timely.
Keeps your attention and interest until the end.
