The 'Story of Easter' is quite informative, in an encyclopedic sort of way. Author Aileen Fisher gives both secular and religious information as well as the various ethnic traditions that led up to those traditions. It's clear the illustrations were drawn with great care to fit each bit of information, although I thought the skull under the crucified Jesus was just a bit of an odd, very obscure reference to Golgotha where he died and not one a child would understand.
