Wife, mother and intrepid traveller Amelia Peabody sets off for Egypt with too handsome and virile archaeologist husband Emerson, precocious son Ramses, the cats Bastet and Anubis, and beautiful ward Nefret, to excavate (they hope) an unpilfered tomb in Egypt. (The author has a doctorate in Egyptology and from her photograph I imagine she is the reincarnation of Amelia.) Grave robbers, antiques -- real and fake -- and encounters with "The Master Criminal" make for a lovely, light summer read.

Just couldn't get into this. I think it's very cleverly written but just was not to my taste.

" I have been trying for almost thirteen years to keep Ramses out of trouble; it isn't a question of protecting him, it is a question of preventing him from locating a lion so he can put his head is its mouth."
