No one teaches us how to deal with anger, but rather we learn through observation and social expectations. I'm so happy I found this book because it helped me realize that I never learned anything to help me cultivate positive and lasting relationships. It isn't you, it's me and I have to work on myself to help better our relationship. Harriet Lerner gives examples of the many different forms of anger and the many different relationships women have. Whether it is our parent, spouse, sibling or child, there are ways to cultivate happy and healthy relationships.
I'm not a big fan of self-help books, but I knew this book was for me when Lerner summed up everything I have already done to control my anger. Anger is important, and can be used to our benefit, we just have to learn how to use it. I would recommend this book to every woman, as it can help improve the quality of our lives with others but especially with ourselves.

The Dance of Anger is a book that helps women express their anger instead of repress it as well as how to effectively manage your emotions when anger is directed at you.

The author who is a therapist is thorough in her explanation on the reason(s) women do not express anger.

She introduces a term called "de-selfing" when a woman allows herself to be a human doormat.

She also provides case scenarios on how she helps women work through their anger issues.

An insightful book for women to understand their relationship with themselves and others.

"Women have a long legacy of assuming responsibility for other people's feelings and for caring for others at the expense of the self". How true is this for so many women out there? I picked up this book because I felt I was having anger management issues and found instead that a female's role in society often causes women to suppress anger. This book shows women how to effectively express that anger in non-combative ways. Society encourages certain behaviors in women, mostly to their detriment, so this book was really an eye-opener for me and helped me understand some of the feelings I've been experiencing. This book should be a must read for every woman--from age 15 on!! 8 out of 10.

What does "ecifani" even mean by that comment? Is he or she a troll? I read this book many years ago. As I recall, it's simply about finding a way to learn about your anger and break the "dance steps" that keep you in it and feeling powerless within your own life. I'd recommend it - definitely helps the reader see how patterns/dances might form and how to step out of them and refuse to allow them to behave destructively in the reader's life. Very good, helpful reading.
