A very moving story about a young girl striving for love from her parents and other people in her life. Written with such emotion, it had me in tears at certain moments. Cynthia Freeman is a wonderful author. She writes with deep feeling, as if she were actually feeling what her characters are experiencing. A great read!

Lily Goodhue, a wealthy New York debutante, unexpectedly falls in love with and marries Harry Kohle, the son of a rich Jewish banker. Disowned by both of their families, they put together a life for each other. Lily looks after the house and children while Harry churns out best-selling novels. As the marriage starts to show signs of weakening, Harry's agent starts to make advances towards Lily.
