Along with H. P. Willmott, Franks is my favorite WWII author ("collector"? "editor of facts and tales"?), and this book contains a fair amount of maps to help descriptions. Not enough, in my opinion, but it's 'as good as they get' apparently.

Franks has the research to support almost every argument about every controversy, as well, so this could be an exhaustive starting point for a new student in WWII.
