World Wildlife HabitatsBook - 1992 | Reference ed
A three-volume animal and wildlife encyclopedia suitable for the middle school, high school, or public library, or the family den. Each volume examines several particular wildlife habitats, covering a total of 23 specifically identified types of environmental category (for instance, the section on "Mountains" looks at mountain dwelling animals from all over the world). Each section is introduced with a short commentary and a world locator map indicating areas on the globe having the habitat under review. The text is surprisingly thorough (even, at time, sophisticated) but accessible to the widest possible audience. The photographs, which adorn every page, are absolutely first-rate. Volume 3 contains the (16-page) index for all three volumes. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
