I found this to be surprisingly good movie especially because Hugh Grant’s character grew & developed. I could say more but I don’t want to be a spoiler. I enjoyed the other characters too!

A little crude. I wish there was more about the students than the affair between teacher and pupil.

'Four Weddings and a Funeral' this is not. Hugh Grant is best when he is awkwardly humorous - crossing the verbal line just enough for us to adore him for the strange looks he gets from the other characters in the film for the near…

This movie will be hilarious to teachers, artists, and the literati, for its play between the interpreters of art versus the creators of art. The rank arrogance of the artist comes into conflict with the rank arrogance of the professorial…

Predictable light rom-com. Hugh Grant plays his usual role, but Marisa Tomei is a delight as always, and nice supporting roles from Chris Elliot & JK Simmons

Once in awhile, Hugh Grant's charm succeeds. In this one, he plays a thoroughly unlikeable character who reportedly experiences a life change, but he is so annoyingly arrogant and obnoxious in the beginning that I couldn't get past 15…

I stumbled upon this and as I am a Hugh Grant fan I decided to give it a try. I found it quite enjoyable and I laughed out loud at various points along the way. Yes, it is predictable in a number of places but also different enough to…

Watched about 10 minutes before I realized that I'd seen it before and that I didn't like it at all. Very slow and dull.

I really enjoyed this one. Fun cast and just a light, rather predictable storyline. And, who doesn't enjoy Hugh Grant?

A comedy drama the loves and mocks the screenwriting profession that puts the character on a pedestal then just as assuredly kicks the pedestal from under him. All done in a lighthearted way. The whole movie is done in a regular 3 act…

As a teacher it was *incredibly* frustrating at the beginning, but, of course, as he grows to love teaching it gets better. Not great, but quite sweet.

I love films about writing and this one was sweet, breezy and heartwarming. Hugh Grant's performance was brilliantly subtle. He seemed well-cast in this role.

I wish they would quit making movies where the smarmy, grossly undeserving guy gets the girl.

I have seen better movies.....

Terrible. I have rarely seen less chemistry than that which the director wants us to believe is simmering between Hugh Grant's and Marisa Tomei's characters. The ending will make you think you looked out the window at a squirrel, then…

As an English major, I probably appreciate this movie more than I would otherwise. Hugh Grant's character is frustrated that he's unable to sell any screenwriting pitches and is absolutely depressed that he has to settle for teaching…

Ok, if you compare it to Hugh Grant's now *classic* roles that are modern favorites, this one doesn't hold up. But, if you take it at face value, it's a nice, light movie with a phenomenal cast of characters and a pleasant romantic…

Put three to five clichés in a blender and mix. It's OK; keep your expectations low.

We watched this movie during yesterday's terrorist attacks on Paris...it is just what the Doctor ordered...a light, fun distraction - an antidote for the real world.

Fun in a distracted sort of way. Not much action, not much else.

Although I applaud Hugh Grant's persistence with less dopey roles, this film pales in comparison to About A Boy. The film lighting seems to have been cheap fluorescent tubes.

Hugh Grant playing Hugh Grant. Only took about 10 minutes to realize I didn't want to waste my time continuing to watch.
