There are moments of absolutely breathtaking beauty in this movie. The music, the costumes, comedy, romance, tragedy—everything you could want. And Kidman and McGregor both sound great!

In the legend of Orpheus, the hero descends into Hades to retrieve the woman he loves, after she dies. He is allowed to take her back, but under the condition that he not look at her. The legend is a fine description of grief and holding…

I fell in love with Ewan McGregors vocals the first time I saw this movie in the theatre around 2001. Wow Time has flown by. And I am still wowed by his singing chops. Ewan and Nicole deliver both the silly absurdly comical moments all the…
I stopped watching this film as it was too fast/too outrageous for me. However I did enjoy the love duets with Nicole and Ewan. I also enjoyed the stories/videos on the second disc more!
I did love Strictly Ballroom by the same director.

The library database overlaid the comments and quotes in the 2001 version with Kidman/Ewan McGregor, and the one released in 1952 with Zsa Zsa Gábor.
2001 version ★★★★: Both the singing and acting performances of Kidman (as star…
Spectacular. Spectacular. Returns are fixed at 10%. There is a big open dance number at the beginning and Kidman has a broken leg for it. I couldn’t tell. Directing.

GREAT 2001 film which is third and final installment of Baz Luhrman's 'Red Curtain Trilogy'. This is SO well done at many challenging levels and was FAR better than his second installment of Romeo and Juliet. I will be watching first…

See Nostalgia Critic review. I liked Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman, and the remixes were descent, but it was so off-putting in it's editing, and the romance and motives were more spontaneous and half baked than if your cake suddenly…

David Bowie, Beck, Rufus Wainwright all add to the soundtrack, plus a cast that has a surprisingly good vocal range make for a theater lovers dream. I'm not the biggest musical fan, but every Baz Luhrmann film is a mesmerizing spectacle …

This is one of those movies that's impossible not to react to, whether it be in a good or bad way. The editing and film effects definitely take a while to get used to, since they can be very choppy or just plain weird, but it's a nice…
Moulin Rouge! is another great film from Baz Luhrmann. It’s a jukebox musical film that follows Christian, a young writer, who falls in love with Satine, a courtesan. When it comes to a Baz Luhrmann film, you will either love the film or…

Okay, the first time I watched this movie I was so shocked and confused that I almost turned it off, however, I couldn't because I was intrigued. Not just by the wonderful singing and the luxurious costumes, but the story and the emotions…

This film is a musical. Filled with a cavalcade of seizure-inducing editing, to better conceal the leads cannot sing or dance, and old pop songs you probably hated the first time around. Not recommended if you have seen Camille, or any…
