It is an interesting idea using the rice cooker as a cooking method. But the recipes are essentially dishes that can be cooked in one pot - whether in a rice cooker or a pot on the stove.

This is actually two books in one - the third of the trilogy of the Mystere books and another one-book story about Cypriere Bayou. The conclusion of the trilogy was very disappointing. Two items that were a theme throughout the three books were each given one-sentence explanations. And those were actually no explanations. So, a big mystery of the entire story is still a mystery. However, the Cypriere Bayou book was far better than the trilogy. It was similar in concept to the trilogy, but it didn't leave me disappointed. I would recommend not reading the three books of the trilogy, and read this one book instead. This is actually two books in one - the third of the trilogy of the Mystere books and another one-book story about Cypriere Bayou. I've had this book on my 'to read' list for a little while. But I couldn't decide if I really thought it would be a book that I would like. I'm glad I picked it up to read. I definitely laughed at various ways the descriptions of characters are written - as soon as I started reading I laughed at the first two sentences! However, 2/3-3/4 of the way through I thought of it like one of those movies where I'm not sure if I want to watch the rest of the movie but I do want to know how it ends. I'm glad I continued reading. But at the end I felt like very little of the story got wrapped-up; it seemed as if there should be another book to provide some closure to most of the characters' stories.I've had this book on my 'to read' list for a little while. Lots of pictures and descriptions of the outside and inside of the early Louisiana houses - plantation and somewhat more modest ones, and touched on the simple Cajun homes. I was surprised at how much lively color was used for painting the walls back then. Also told how the houses being designed for air flow (shotgun houses) along with the combination of the high-pitched roofs allowed them to be kept relatively cool.Lots of pictures and descriptions of the outside and inside of the early Louisiana houses - plantation and somewhat more modest ones, and touched on the simple Cajun homes. I really liked the beginning of the story with the descriptions of her life and family in the Louisiana bayou.
But I was very frustrated with how naive Ruby was once the story moved to New Orleans, even after the point where I thought she should have been able to anticipate that the people were going to be jerks toward her.I really liked the beginning of the story with the descriptions of her life and family in the Louisiana bayou.

Fantastic research went into this dictionary. It's impressive how much time, effort, and truly caring that the language was documented was put into it. My gripe with the book is that the pronunciation guide doesn't actually give guidance on how to say the various sounds. It gives the symbol, how it might be shown, the Louisiana word, and the English equivalent. But nothing tells how to pronounce that symbol - you need to know the International Phonetic Alphabet. So unless you already know French this book will not help you with learning Louisiana French.Fantastic research went into this dictionary. I was afraid this was going to be a book where the author used the book to promote his subscription website. But he actually gave the indicators he uses and told how he uses them for signaling when to buy and sell. However, the main indicator he uses is the Detrended Price Oscillator, and so far I haven't found a site where that is an indicator that I can choose to have shown.I was afraid this was going to be a book where the author used the book to promote his subscription website. Not a lot of actual trading information. Mostly seems to be trying to convince the reader to do trading. I did think there were a couple pieces of useful or helpful information in the second half, but, overall, unless you're needing more convincing to get into trading you probably won't be too interested in this book. Not a lot of actual trading information. A prequel to Rule #1 (even though it was written after Rule #1). Great idea, but I felt it either lacked substance or it was just too much book for the relatively small amount of information it was intended to convey - seemed like there was a lot of fluff needed to fill the pages.
